ARTstor Offline Image Viewer (0IV) [ARTstor] ARTstor has developed offline presetnation software for using images in the classroom. The Offline Image Viewer (0IV) allows users to create presntations that enable slide shows, side-by-side comparisons, zooming and panning, and the ability to add text to slides. Public 0IV is a stand alone freeware version of the licensed Offline Image Viewer. Coppermine Coppermine is a multi-purpose fully-featured and integrated web picture gallery script written in PHP using GD or ImageMagick as image library with a MySQL backend. Gallery [versions 1 and 2] An open source web based photo album organizer. ImageAXS Pro [Gallery Systems] ImageAXSPro is a personal image database and presentation system that allows you to import both images and text. You may search your ImageAXS Pro database and organize the images into portfolios. The ImageAXS programs have been graciously made available by Gallery Systems, the makers of the Embark Kiosk. You are free to use them for non-commercial educational purposes. The program includes extensive help files; however no support is available from us or from the company, nor are there any guarantees. iPhoto [Apple] A powerful program for managing images and making presentations, and is available only for Mac OS X. IrfanView IrfanView is a very fast, small, compact and innovative FREEWARE (for non-commercial use) graphic viewer for Windows 9x/ME/NT/2000/XP/2003. [source: IrfanView] Picassa [Google] Picasa is software that helps you instantly find, edit and share all the pictures on your PC. Every time you open Picasa, it automatically locates all your pictures (even ones you forgot you had) and sorts them into visual albums organized by date with folder names you will recognize. You can drag and drop to arrange your albums and make labels to create new groups. Picasa makes sure your pictures are always organized. [source: Picassa]

PolyView [Polybytes] PolyView is a fast and powerful image viewer, conversion, and printing utility for all 32 bit versions of Windows. PolyView is designed to be easy and intuitive to use for beginners, but has the advanced image manipulation, printing, and management features needed for dealing with large image collections. Almagest Almagest is both a presentation tool and a management tool. It is a repository (supported by IET servers and administration) that allows the user to store and access content about the images. ARTstor ARTStor is a library of digital images, associated information, and software tools designed to enhance teaching, learning and scholarship. It currently contains a searchable database of over 500,000 digital images that span many time periods and cultures, and documents the fields of architecture, painting, sculpture, photography, decorative arts, and design, as well as many other forms of visual culture. Registered users can create and save image groups and use the Offline Viewer (image presentation software). Visual Resources Association (VRA)
The Visual Resources Association is a multi-disciplinary organization dedicated to furthering research and education in the field of image management within the educational, cultural heritage, and commercial environments. The Association is committed to providing leadership in the visual resources field, developing and advocating standards, and offering educational tools and opportunities for the benefit of the community at large. The VRA implements these goals through publication programs and educational activities. The Association offers a forum for issues of vital concern to the field, including: preservation of and access to digital and analog images of visual culture; cataloging and classification standards and practices; integration of technology-based instruction and research; intellectual property policy; and other topics of interest to the field.
